The project was executed under an extremely tight global timeline, requiring coordination between multiple OEMs, parallel system installations, and strict compliance with Sea Trials and FMEA Trials requirements. Any delay or misalignment could have impacted vessel readiness and operational schedules.

Sinor Marine Services (SMS) implemented a structured execution strategy, combining detailed planning, close OEM coordination, and disciplined on-site commissioning.
The scope was successfully delivered through the supply, installation, and commissioning of:

Sonardyne Ranger 2 system with hull-through deployment machine and DN500 gate valve with actuator (Sonardyne)

SMT MK2 Taut Wire system (SMT)

Fugro OceanStar DGPS (Fugro)

Clear-Com Communication System (Clear-Com)

Proactive technical engagement, experienced field execution, and real-time coordination ensured smooth integration across all systems.

Led by Sinor Marine Services (SMS) Project Engineer Rajesh Puthur, together with the P&O Maritime team, the project upgrades the vessel from a legacy MT DP-2 to the latest MT Bridgemate DP-2, enhancing reliability, performance, and long-term support.

Another DP milestone underway

We’ve kicked off yet another DP-2 retrofit project—upgrading from a 3rd-party DP-2 system to the latest MT BridgeMate DP-2 in the Far East.

On the delivery front, our ongoing projects are moving steadily:
Bourbon Sumatra – Sea trials in progress
Topaz Rayyan – Pre-commissioning to be completed this week, with DP ready for trials

Adding to this momentum, Sinor Marine Services (SMS) secured three additional DP upgrade projects in January 2026, all scheduled to commence within the next 10–12 weeks.

Today, SMS has established a strong global footprint in Dynamic Positioning, offering a full range of DP products, retrofits, and lifecycle support. This growth is driven by experienced leadership from our GM, Naveen Thandarath, whose career spans years as a DP Field Service Engineer and OEM-trained specialist on:
MT, NAVIS, L3 (Wärtsilä)
Cyscan / Radascan (Guidance Marine)
Sonardyne Ranger 1&2
